{"abstract":"This study described the solid waste management practices, policies, and problems encountered by 29 private higher education institutions in Dasmariñas City, Cavite. Participants included Pollution Control Officers or solid waste management personnel from each college, along with 200 students proportionally divided among the institutions. The study found that recyclable wastes were the most generated type, followed by biodegradable and hazardous wastes. Residual waste was the least generated, with all schools producing less than 25kg per day. Garbage bags were the most common storage method. Most schools relied on local government units for weekly waste collection, while a few contracted private firms for daily collection. For disposal, 48.28% of schools used landfilling, with others employing open dumping, composting, and incineration. A significant association was found between the type and volume of solid wastes generated and the schools’ years of existence, student, faculty, and staff population, and daily operation hours.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Jesusa Lee Perido","Rodel Manzo"],"date":"2024-12-13","doi":"10.5281/zenodo.14432682","id":4106,"issue":8,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"89b670e56d1183d7b4d20679aa50a847968fd2e939528f96428ab322ca19106a","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Solid Waste Management Practices, Policies, and the Problems Encountered by the Selected Higher Education Institution in Dasmariñas City, Cavite","volume":28}
