{"abstract":"This study investigated the effectiveness of an Edpuzzle-based interactive video intervention for addressing least learned competencies in Grade 8 mathematics at a secondary school in Sorsogon province. Employing a mixed-method research design with a pretest-posttest control group, 60 students were divided equally into control and experimental groups. Competencies assessed included factoring polynomials, simplifying rational expressions, and solving equations and inequalities in two variables. Pretest results showed both groups at a \"Needs Improvement\" level, with mean scores of 58.1 for the control group and 59.1 for the experimental group. After the intervention, the control group's posttest mean increased to 64.9 (\"Fairly Satisfactory\"), while the experimental group showed a significant increase to 84.3 (\"Very Satisfactory\"). A t-test for independent samples confirmed a significant difference between the posttest scores of the two groups, and a paired t-test for the experimental group indicated notable pretest-to-posttest improvement. Qualitative feedback from 10 experimental group students highlighted increased engagement and perceived benefits. These findings suggest that Edpuzzle can be an effective online instructional tool for enhancing student performance in mathematics, advocating for broader use of technology-enhanced interventions.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Jan Angelo Morata"],"date":"2024-11-23","doi":"10.5281/zenodo.14208188","id":4018,"issue":2,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"442ac183d9f080085d448a34a997fdf4955d760284dfa8e83d88f6290a637c9a","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Interactive Video-Based Learning on Least Learned Competencies in Mathematics of Grade 8 Students Using Edpuzzle: A Basis for an Online Intervention","volume":28}
