{"abstract":"This qualitative phenomenological study explored the experiences of ten English teachers with multiple ancillary functions in selected schools in Maguindanao-1 Division, using purposive sampling and in-depth semi-structured interviews. Colizzi’s strategy for data analysis was employed. Beyond teaching and advising, these teachers held roles such as ICT, GAS, HUMMS, LIS, GAD, NDEP, BSP/GSP, CAT, DRRMO, SSG, PESS Coordinator, School paper Publication, Junior and Senior High School Coordinator, School program, Canteen manager, Statistician, Research coordinator, Sports coach, Subject moderator, and Principal secretary. Teachers managed these roles through strategies like time management, prioritization, self-discipline, and seeking assistance. While some accepted these functions for professional growth, obedience, and trust, the effects on teaching performance included inefficient instruction, absenteeism, health problems, and class interruption. The study concluded that many teachers struggled to balance their time, making teaching a lower priority, which affected both teaching and student performance. Despite difficulties, teachers managed their functions using various strategies, believing these roles contributed to personal and professional growth; however, very few were satisfied with their ancillary functions, primarily due to motivation for job promotion.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Haron Mohamad","Marissa Parcon"],"date":"2022-07-04","doi":"10.5281/zenodo.6793527","id":399,"issue":6,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"ab6cde5d128409afb5cf3dd270b5888382ef55123e6f2faa5d8835af9108c1d6","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Unfolding Stories of English Teachers with Multiple Ancillary Functions in Maguindanao-1 Division: A Phenomenological Study","volume":2}
