{"abstract":"This study assessed the relationship between Grade 7 students' perception and engagement in collaborative learning and their academic performance in Mathematics at Aloguinsan National High School for the school year 2023–2024. Using a descriptive correlational method and simple random sampling, 146 students completed a survey on their perception and engagement, while their academic performance was measured by their 1st quarter Mathematics GPA. Data were analyzed using frequency count, percentage, weighted mean, and Pearson's r. Most respondents were 12-year-old females, whose parents primarily completed high school and had a combined monthly family income below 10,000 pesos. Results indicated a high level of student perception and a very high level of affective, behavioral, and cognitive engagement in collaborative learning. The respondents' academic performance was in the proficient group. No significant relationship was found between students' perception of cooperative learning and their academic performance in mathematics. However, a significant relationship existed between the overall data on respondents' engagement and their academic performance in Mathematics. The study concluded that while positive perceptions of collaborative learning might not directly impact grades, students' attitudes of engagement were significantly relevant to their academic performance in mathematics. A math performance enhancement plan is recommended.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Nina Fatima Abendan","Danielyn Matondo","Sarah Jane Villarosa"],"date":"2024-09-05","doi":"10.5281/zenodo.13689182","id":3552,"issue":8,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"87848bbfd72d3d285d925fba2b563eb296cd1b6c0bbae4ba43e56e74e0ab52c2","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Collaboration to Enhance Students’ Mathematics Performance","volume":24}
