{"abstract":"The COVID-19 pandemic caused economic and health damage, leading to psychological health concerns, especially for family breadwinners who lost jobs. This study employed a Phenomenological Qualitative Research Design to characterize the experiences of ten primary breadwinners in N.C.R. who abruptly lost their work during the pandemic, considering their internal psychological processes and connections with others. A purposive sampling technique was used, with participants meeting seven criteria: breadwinners who lost jobs due to redundancy or downsizing, male or female, aged 20-45, married, with at least 5 years of work experience, and high school or college graduates. Participants underwent a validation process, answered a qualifier question, and then a list of semi-structured questions. Findings revealed two major themes: Positive Realizations and Negative outcomes. The study concluded that strengthening family bonds and establishing a good support system are essential for breadwinners to cope with pandemic-related stress. Recommendations included strong family bonds, quality time, a support system, self-enhancement, stress management, coping mechanisms, and good communication.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Trixia Anne Reyes","Zyrene Anne Pabrualinan","Karen Marie Garcia"],"date":"2024-08-03","doi":"10.5281/zenodo.13181562","id":3325,"issue":10,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"ce2b9649965b3b8be87616c3f128868ff58acf19583b441b88951fe9c363255e","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Lived Experiences of Breadwinners as a Result of Job Loss During the Pandemic","volume":22}
