{"abstract":"This study investigated the relationship between Academic Self-Efficacy (ASE) and preferred online learning modalities among 91 graduate psychology students, focusing on gender disparities. Using a correlational cross-sectional design, the research employed the 8-item \"Academic Self-Efficacy and Efficacy for Self-Regulated Learning\" questionnaire by Chemer, Hu, and Garcia (2001), with a 7-point Likert scale, to gauge current academic self-efficacy. Demographic information on gender and preferred online learning modalities was also collected. Median scores for ASE were calculated and analyzed in SPSS. The study revealed a notable gender disparity in ASE, with male students exhibiting higher self-efficacy levels than female students. Despite most students preferring mixed online learning modalities, no significant difference in ASE was observed between students in mixed online and asynchronous learning environments. This suggests consistent independent learning capabilities and adaptations to online modalities regardless of the chosen mode. In conclusion, the study highlights gender-based differences in ASE among graduate psychology students and emphasizes the need to explore these disparities further within academic settings, informing the design of online learning environments.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Godswill Ambrose","Cielo Faye Batara","John Austin Berayo","Michaela Denise Dimaano","Peter Cedrick Guilot","Marian Joi Martinez"],"date":"2024-05-13","doi":"10.5281/zenodo.11183005","id":2909,"issue":8,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"9242e47e3c3362649600e7cf8d5af18ba83fe411c3076b455b39868f4c616044","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Academic Self Efficacy and Online Learning Modality Among Graduate Psychology Students During COVID-19 Crisis","volume":19}
