{"abstract":"This study investigated the effect of portfolio assessment on the learning performance of Ninth Grade Learners in the Filipino subject, specifically in the fourth quarter on “Noli Me Tangere.” The research aimed to determine the level of academic performance using portfolio assessment, identify significant differences in performance, assess the effect of portfolio assessment, and evaluate students' attitudes and feelings towards it. A mixed-method, sequential explanatory design was employed, utilizing fifty competency-based questions. Quantitative analysis, including mean, frequency count, percentage distribution, and t-tests, determined learning performance levels and significant differences between pre-test and post-test scores. Cohen’s D was used to determine the effect size. Qualitative methods, such as free presentations and focus group discussions, explored student attitudes. Results showed an increase and significant difference in the level of learning performance for students using portfolio assessment, with an above-average effect size. Portfolio assessment guided learning, increased grades, and motivated students through their best output. It is recommended that teachers participate in seminars on portfolio use, parents monitor and support children in portfolio tasks, and local government units support school programs promoting student learning.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Almera Mae Pendi"],"date":"2024-04-17","doi":"10.5281/zenodo.10988882","id":2805,"issue":1,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"9059c76c1758a2ad6eb107a71858cfa0fb72b6b6582d8f54bbd896c56a1f93ad","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Effect of Portfolio Assessment in Learning Performance of Ninth Grade Learner","volume":19}
