{"abstract":"This study investigated the level of understanding regarding computer games and academic performance among learners at Sultan Palao Ali Memorial Elementary School, SPAMES (127217), Tagoloan District, Division of Lanao del Norte. Using a descriptive-correlational research design, the study profiled elementary learners and assessed their understanding of computer games and academic performance. Most learners were 11–13 years old, female, and had satisfactory academic performance. Regarding understanding of computer games, the indicator “Playing computer games can enhance the accuracy/speed of my hands” received the highest mean score, interpreted as an agreed level. Conversely, “Playing computer games can increase my empathy and supports my mental well-being” garnered the lowest mean of 1.80, interpreted as a disagreed level, indicating respondents believed games negatively impacted their health. Correlation analysis showed no significant relationship between academic performance and age, but a significant relationship with sex was found. A significant relationship was also identified between academic performance and the level of understanding of playing computer games. Regression analysis further rejected the null hypothesis that no variables best predict academic performance.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Norhata Calandada","Erlinda Basmayor"],"date":"2024-04-09","doi":"10.5281/zenodo.10949278","id":2768,"issue":8,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"a77b60e4551f2a80191381fc0ab87b5870e4adb7e415b78422833e0dc4290ff1","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Level of Understanding on Playing Computer Games and Academic Performance of Learners","volume":18}
