{"abstract":"This study determined the extent of parental involvement and its impact on the academic performance of 200 Grade 8 students at Baras National High School during the 2013-2014 School Year. Data were collected from parents and 32 teachers using a researcher-made questionnaire-checklist on attendance at school-related activities, family and emotional support, and parent-teacher contact. Documentary analysis evaluated student average grades. Parents perceived their attendance at school activities as \"Often\" (mean 3.66), while teachers perceived it as \"Sometimes\" (mean 3.30). For family and emotional support, parents perceived \"Often\" (mean 3.57) and teachers \"Sometimes\" (mean 3.29). Both groups perceived parent-teacher contact as \"Often\" (parents mean 3.80, teachers mean 3.65). No significant difference was found between parent and teacher perceptions regarding attendance in school activities and family and emotional support. Most Grade 8 students had average grades below 85 percent. The study found no significant relationship between parental involvement and students' academic performance, although academic performance was associated with parental involvement in education. The study concluded that parents attend school activities sufficiently, parental involvement perceptions do not significantly differ between groups, Grade 8 students have low academic performance, and parental involvement has no significant relationship with academic performance.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Elimar Ocampo"],"date":"2024-01-30","doi":"10.5281/zenodo.10593922","id":2483,"issue":9,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"e7a5589c58b697391951906a6943e6528ac450f17092a91ff31fc28ac12f7d7d","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Parental Involvement on the Academic Performance of Grade 8 Students in Baras National High School","volume":16}
