{"abstract":"This descriptive study identified academic predictors of learning proficiency across strands of mathematics for 42 Grade 8 students at Marikina High School during the 2021-2022 school year. The study found that the majority of respondents achieved high ratings in Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics and Probability, with most students scoring above the passing rate for Mathematics. The null hypothesis was rejected, indicating a significant difference in students' proficiency levels in Mathematics across Algebra and Geometry. Regarding study strategies, students strongly agreed with rehearsal (analyzing content repeatedly), organization (identifying important parts in notes/textbooks), and self-regulation (listing formulas first). They agreed with studying Math at a fixed time. Students perceived Mathematics as difficult but interesting. There was no significant difference in academic characteristics except for Attitude towards Mathematics and Time and Study Environment, which showed a strong positive/negative difference.
