{"abstract":"This descriptive-correlational study identified the difficulties and coping mechanisms of 149 first-year Master of Arts in Education students at St. Peter's College in Iligan City during the first semester of the 2022–2023 academic year. The study surveyed respondent profiles including age, sex, civil status, career, technology usage, and monthly family income. It also explored difficulties in online learning, such as isolation, instructor ability, motivation, and features, alongside coping strategies for course, individual, technological, and environmental challenges. Data were collected using an adapted, pilot-tested questionnaire. Results indicated that motivation, features of online classes, and isolation were the most common challenges. Respondents primarily used environmental coping mechanisms, though course, technological, and individual coping mechanisms were also affirmed. Challenges significantly differed based on gadgets used and family monthly income, while coping mechanisms significantly differed by family monthly income. A significant correlation was found between online class challenges and coping mechanisms. However, family monthly income and age did not mediate the relationship between challenges and coping mechanisms.
