{"abstract":"This descriptive study investigated the impact of the Marawi siege on 50 private teachers from Ibn Siena Integrated School Foundation in Marawi City, using a self-constructed survey questionnaire and purposive sampling. The study also explored factors such as Jihad, the root cause of the problem, and the roles of the Maute Group and Abu Sayyaf Group. Socio-demographic profiles revealed that 46% of respondents were aged 20-24, 50% were single, 100% were Meranaw, 74% were college graduates, and 72% earned P 11,000 – P 20,000 monthly. Findings indicated diverse opinions regarding the siege's impact. A majority of respondents agreed that jihad is a mandatory form of worship for Muslims, and that terrorism and extremism, not Jihad, caused Marawi's fall. All 50 respondents (100%) agreed that Jihad's main purpose is to remove aggression, injustice, and defend people's rights, homeland, and Islam. The study concluded that respondents perceived the situation as an effect of terrorism disguised as Jihad, causing psychological suffering but not extinguishing emotional and spiritual obligations. It also highlighted the teachers' heroic actions.
