{"abstract":"This mixed-method study, conducted at Saint Mary’s University Senior High School in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya during the 2021-2022 school year, aimed to determine the mastery of Grade 12 STEM students in General Biology. The respondents were students enrolled in General Biology 2 who had also taken General Biology 1. The majority of respondents were female and had attended private junior high schools with a special science curriculum. Students' average grades in General Biology ranged from very satisfactory to outstanding. Overall, students demonstrated an average, or satisfactory, perceived mastery level of General Biology competencies. Specifically, Evolution and Origin of Biodiversity and Genetics showed the highest perceived mastery, while Transport Mechanisms had the lowest. No significant difference in perceived mastery was found between male and female students. However, a significant difference existed among junior high school types, with students from science high schools exhibiting a higher mastery level than those from public schools with special science curricula.
