{"abstract":"The poor performance of Filipino learners in PISA 2018, TIMSS 2019, and NAT 2018 highlights the need for educational intervention, particularly in the context of new normal distance learning. This study aimed to design and evaluate an Electronic Strategic Intervention Material (E-SIM) as a computer/phone application to help low-performing students improve scientific thinking skills and assist Science teachers in reteaching least mastered concepts in Science 7. The E-SIM application was designed and evaluated using the ADDIE model approach with science teachers from Rizal High School, whose feedback informed design improvements. An IT expert then developed the application. Implementation with Grade 7 students involved pre- and post-tests, revealing a positive learning gain as all participants achieved higher post-test scores after using the E-SIM. Overall evaluation indicated the E-SIM application is engaging, colorful, interactive, and effective in helping students learn least mastered competencies. This study encourages teachers to develop needed learning materials and suggests E-SIM can be a basis for teacher training and further E-SIM designs.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Mary Jane Dalisay"],"date":"2023-08-31","doi":"10.5281/zenodo.8305148","id":1906,"issue":10,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"e54f9d25d0a15313148cc3ee3251e3b11a91cb74c2ce98b0dbe81d2e29a4b232","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Design and Evaluation of Electronic Strategic Intervention Material (E-SIM) in the New Normal","volume":12}
