{"abstract":"This qualitative phenomenological study explored the experiences of teachers leaving the profession in the Municipality of Candoni, Negros Occidental. Using purposive sampling, the study identified participants whose stories revealed key reasons for their departure. While initial motivations for becoming teachers often stemmed from personal interest or a dream job, these factors were insufficient to retain individuals once they encountered the realities of the profession. Some participants also chose teaching as an alternative career. Teachers' commitment was found to influence their performance and satisfaction. Positive relationships with students and administrators initially brought joy, but over time, major incidents led to disillusionment. Participants reported suffering daily from challenges related to planning, preparing, crafting, and discussing lessons, which consumed significant time. The salaries received did not compensate for these hardships. The top reasons identified for leaving the teaching profession were insufficient salary, pressure of workload, and personal circumstances.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Charly Alpar"],"date":"2023-08-27","doi":"10.5281/zenodo.8287172","id":1887,"issue":9,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"84e299354238ffabafcdbfb1a0a14dc47cc664bf1f76dcb23875515a922b9d74","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Unveiling the Profound Realities: Exploring the Lived Experience of Educators Departing the Teaching Profession","volume":12}
