Within this sector, Aircraft Maintenance Technology (AMT) is essential to maintaining the safety, reliability, and operational efficiency of air travel (International Civil Aviation Organization [ICAO], 2020). As global demand for qualified maintenance personnel increases, exploring the reasons students choose AMT has become a key academic focus. Diverse influences shape their decisions—ranging from a passion for aviation and career prospects to financial security, personal goals, and cultural or familial expectations (Gubaidulina & Ardashkin, 2021; O’Neil, 2019). Selecting AMT is more than choosing a college program; it signifies a long-term professional commitment that requires adaptability and perseverance. In a time of rapid technological change and evolving labor market needs, students’ pursuit of AMT reflects how personal aspirations align with industry demands (Boeing, 2023). Investigating these motivations offers valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and aviation stakeholders to better support learners in reaching their career objectives while also meeting the sector’s workforce needs (Knight, 2017).
