{"abstract":"This study evaluates the integration of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK) Seventh Edition principles into the Construction Management track of the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) program, addressing curricular gaps such as lack of cohesion, topic redundancy, and insufficient alignment with modern industry requirements. Using a qualitative research design, data were gathered through focus group discussions with eight faculty members from CIT-University’s Civil Engineering Department. The study assessed the curriculum’s current state and potential enhancements across curriculum design, resource allocation, assessment strategies, and faculty experience. Findings reveal that while fundamental concepts are covered, the curriculum lacks integration of critical PMBoK performance domains, particularly in stakeholder management and technology application. Significant systematic challenges identified include a technology gap with insufficient laboratories and software licenses, and a need for greater faculty expertise in specialized industry practices. Additionally, three-hour continuous course sessions were found less effective for student retention. Recommendations include restricting specialized courses to high-demand skills like BIM and Bridge Management, strictly enforcing prerequisites, and investing in technological infrastructure. The research concludes that successful integration requires sustained institutional commitment to continuous faculty development and a strategic shift to deep, competency-based learning, ensuring industry-ready professionals.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Mariche Barrio"],"date":"2026-10-11","doi":"10.70838/PEMJ.640303","id":11066,"issue":3,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"a72e9ec33749eebfba3f92edc58180a356c08fa1770572899297569ba653838c","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Integrating Construction Management in Civil Engineering With PMBOK Seventh Edition for an Enhanced Competency Curricular Review","volume":64}
