{"abstract":"This study determined the personal financial management practices and lived experiences of 375 teacher-respondents in the Third Congressional District of Quezon using a questionnaire and interviews. SPSS statistical measurements were utilized. Findings revealed that public elementary school teachers often practiced budgeting, borrowing, and investing, while saving was practiced less often. This suggests low knowledge in saving, a lack of regular saving habits, and insufficient excess money after expenses, indicating unawareness of saving's importance. Lack of awareness in investing limits their potential for passive income and wealth building. No significant difference was found in personal financial management when grouped by sex, teaching position, and income. However, significant differences existed when grouped by age, civil status, length of service, and assets. Interview results showed unstable finances, leading to frequent financial crises due to emergencies. Budgeting was considered the most effective remedy for financial shortages, and many could not save a fixed amount due to income shortfalls. Loans were common due to unexpected expenditures, with establishing a business seen as a way to cope and gain extra income. The study recommends financial literacy programs to enhance teachers' financial management knowledge.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Earla Jean Capisonda-Porteza"],"date":"2023-02-18","doi":"10.5281/zenodo.7653255","id":1032,"issue":3,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"47d2a2b0a99d011238cf26f4d1a1b6c93a3c598217b16f3c5e639a9bb6f008a8","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Personal Financial Management Practices and Lived Experiences of Teachers in the Third Congressional District of Quezon","volume":7}
