{"abstract":"Academic librarians’ productivity is essential to the effective delivery of library services that support teaching, learning, and research. This study examined the determinants of academic librarians’ work productivity, specifically leadership, time management, technological proficiency, and task performance, among librarians in private academic institutions in Regions XI and XII, Philippines. A descriptive-regression research design was employed. Data were collected from 60 licensed academic librarians who met the study’s inclusion criteria through a researcher-made questionnaire subjected to expert validation and pilot testing. Descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the data. Results showed that respondents had very high perceptions of leadership, time management, technological proficiency, and task performance, with task performance obtaining the highest mean score (M = 4.47) and time management the lowest (M = 4.29). Respondents likewise demonstrated a very high level of work productivity (M = 4.29) in terms of work quality improvement, timely task completion, increased output, adaptability, and efficient task prioritization. Multiple regression analysis revealed that the determinants collectively significantly predicted work productivity (R² = .413, adjusted R² = .373, F = 9.693, p < .001). Leadership emerged as the strongest significant positive predictor (β = .384, p = .002), followed by task performance (β = .338, p = .013). Conversely, time management (β = −.075, p = .561) and technological proficiency (β = .173, p = .147) did not significantly predict productivity independently. The findings highlight the importance of strengthening leadership practices and task performance while providing complementary institutional support for other professional competencies. The study contributes empirical evidence for understanding productivity determinants in academic library contexts and provides a basis for targeted professional development and organizational interventions.","abstract_source":"original","authors":["Aillyn Mae Sarol","Maria Lorena Abangan"],"date":"2026-09-15","doi":"10.70838/pemj.620803","id":10252,"issue":8,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"7ee44201a0365c9ed10e1416d5ee341bbb13c475a5850d2c0328ec7df0fd40ca","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Determinants of Academic Librarians’ Work Productivity","volume":62}
