{"abstract":"This study evaluated the implementation of the comprehensive Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in Schools (WINS) program of the Department of Education in South Central Mindanao. Using a descriptive-correlation method and a researcher-made survey questionnaire, data were collected from 250 respondents. Mean and Pearson-r Moment Correlation were used for analysis, with multiple regression identifying the best predictor. Findings indicated that the WINS program's basic requirements and standards for water in schools were moderately implemented. However, sanitation, hygiene, health education, and deworming in schools were only slightly implemented. The extent of attainment of objectives per element, including adequate and safe drinking water, clean water for various uses, adequate toilet facilities, supervised daily group hand washing and tooth brushing, trained teachers for health education, and semi-annual deworming of at least 85% of students, were all slightly attained, with overall means of 3.01, 3.10, 3.02, 3.14, and 3.07 respectively. Despite slight attainment, promoting personal hygiene and environmental sanitation within schools is crucial for children to adopt good habits and for WINS strategies to improve education access, learning outcomes, and provide a safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environment.","abstract_source":"gemini_shortened","authors":["Sarah Bansuan"],"date":"2023-02-16","doi":"10.5281/zenodo.7644580","id":1018,"issue":2,"journal":{"issn":"2822-4353","name":"Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal"},"pdf_sha256":"455bf9bb8554c42ae4650f6e904576d8a7b94461cd5c928ef4e6fd241fec6a29","schema":"scimatic-article/1","title":"Evaluation on the Implementation of the Comprehensive Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools (WINS) Program of Department of Education in South Central Mindanao","volume":7}
