Abstract
This paper raises the delicate question of the situation of the French language worldwide, in a nowadays unfavourable context, when English is gaining more and more ground in the field of education, in the scientific publications, in the international organisations, etc. In spite of this difficult situation and the seemingly unfavourable context, the author has sufficient arguments to be optimistic and confident that the French language will continue to be employed in the field of education and in literare, both on the European and African continents.
